Las Cucas started professionally causing trouble in 1998 and broke up in 2001 due to the relocation of various band members. The band featured Nao Bustamante (vocals and high drama), Marcia Ochoa (vocals and guitar), Al Lujan (vocals and more high drama), Cheryl Tesch (bass and soul), Rene Mercado (guitar and some vocals) and Devil Bunny (drums, some vocals and some drama). The band was famous for fusing traditional Mexican and other Latin songs with an original punkera flavor not to be found anywhere else on the planet. Devil Bunny mostly provided rhythm on drums, but also created her own tweaked out Celia Cruz/Jim Morrison version of "Guantanamera," which often brought audience members to a state of perplexity, as did most of Las Cucas' performances. Las Cucas performed all over San Francisco and in parts of Los Angeles. Though you might not be able to catch them live in their original formation, you can listen to some of their songs here!
